South Africa

Animals

We prevent cruelty, promote kindness and alleviate the suffering of animals.

Our objective is to serve and protect ALL animals, to uplift their welfare and to ensure that the protection they have under South African law is upheld and respected.

Our mission is to prevent cruelty and promote the welfare of all animals, whilst our vision is to end animal cruelty In South Africa and engender compassion for all animals.

Big cats are under threat in the wild, and being exploited in captivity. Many tourists and volunteers are unaware of what is truly happening to these big cats, and therefore we take pride in speaking on the animal’s behalves. Make informed decisions, unite with us and help spread awareness!

We rehabilitate and provide sanctuary to over 500 primates, orphaned, injured, abused, ex-laboratory or unwanted pets. In addition to this we provide:

Cheetah Experience is a registered non-profit endangered species breeding centre, originally based in Bloemfontein but in March 2021 we finalized the move of the facility to to Bela Bela, Limpopo.

We are home to a number of endangered and threatened species, including cheetahs, leopards, male

non-breeding lions, servals, caracals, African wildcats, wolves, meerkats and a Siberian tiger. Our project takes in rescued animals from the local area, so we also have various animals from time to time, including a goat and chickens.

Our Mission is to raise awareness of the vulnerability of South African species and other endangered species through educational experiences, as well as ethically breeding cheetahs in captivity and releasing them into a protected wild.

We offer visitors a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to come on an educational tour and learn about our animals, see them up close, take some amazing photos, and learn how you can join us in the fight to protect these precious species.

We offer a wide range of Volunteer and Internship Programs, which have seen over 1000 hard-working, dedicated people from 33 countries come and be a special part of the Cheetah Experience Global Volunteer Family, and contribute to conservation in South Africa.

EMPATHY, COMPASSION, SOCIAL JUSTICE

The Mission of The EMS Foundation is the advancement and protection of the rights and general welfare of wild animals, children, elderly persons and other vulnerable groups in South Africa and Africa, for the purpose of alleviating suffering, disrupting inequality in all of its forms, raising public awareness, empowering and providing dignity.

Animal Sanctuaries

With a deep love for animals, a desire to make a difference and having been involved in various rescue organisations for roughly 19 years, Grace Animal Sanctuary founder Caron Burger had the dream of starting an animal rescue organisation for many years.

📌 Cape Town

The farm is currently home to 111 pigs, 52 sheep, ten goats, five cows, two geese, two chickens and a duck as well as six dogs and seven cats.

We welcome volunteers from all over the world and enjoy the multi-cultural energy that they bring.

“I get more joy, in one minute, from the rescued farm animals at the sanctuary than I ever did in decades of eating meat.”

~Nicola Vernon

Animal welfare is the well-being of animals, and it is an area of activism, science, and political action. CAAWO wants to improve the conditions for animals, especially animals that are reliant on human care. This includes companion animals, animal used for testing, animals slaughtered for food and in other settings, wild animals that are negatively impacted by human actions.

Billions of animals are kept in appalling conditions, e.g. a sow kept in a crate/stall and unable to turnaround, move forward or backwards, laying hens kept in cages where they are unable to spread their wings, dustbathe, etc.

Animal Stories

The Animal Communicator - Anna Breytenbach

Communicating with animals as well as plants is real. Listen carefully to the parts where she is talking about how this kind of communication is affecting her emotions.
